Container Gardening — Angel Moss viewed 312 times

I am constantly running into new gardening products as I read magazines. I am puzzled as to the difference between angel moss and long fiber sphagnum moss. A package of the long fiber compressed moss of 200 g. says it holds up to 20 times it;s weight in water.

How does this compare to angel moss from New Zealand?

Angel moss is actually a type of sphagnum moss. I recommend using Angel moss, because of its' high quality. There are less debris mixed into the moss, it has very long fibers, it is consistent in its' composition, and has better water retention than normal sphagnum moss. Another plus is that Angel moss is a very efficient renewable resource that is only harvested in New Zealand, while most long fiber sphagnum comes from peat bogs in Canada which are extremely slow in renewing itself and are being depleted much faster than they are able to grow back.

I just purchased 2 baskets to hang under windows. They require moss liners. Is there a difference in longevity between the New Zealand moss and canadian moss?
