What type of rose is best suited for container gardening?

I received beautiful large roses for Mother's Day via ProFlowers and placed them in a vase with flower food that was enclosed and several of them have sprouted from the nodes.and growing leaves. I was wondering if I should try to root them and try growing them in containers until well established?? Has anyone done this and if so, explain procedure. Thanks.
