Hey I've got three crape myrtles that need transplanting. They are shrub-like in shape right now. Should I trim them after transplanting to a tree-like shape or wait? Anyone have any tips? Thanks!
Hello Jlem, I've got some tips for you:
Crape Myrtles are very tolerant of pruning. The best time to prune Crape Myrtles is late March through mid April. This would also be a fine time to transplant it. If you are removing lower branches, it will probably be easier to handle if you prune before you dig. As a general rule of thumb, try not to prune off more than about 20% of the tree in any year.
